The Law – Something to always keep in mind

All drone operations are subject to the guidelines and regulations set out by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). These regulations are paramount to flying drones safely, thereby reducing the risk of them interfering with other aircraft in the airspace and injuring people and property on the ground. For that reason all pilots flying a drone for commercial purposes must have a Part 107 license. Flying commercially without one can be fined in excess of $30,000 for each incidence per drone and in some instance can also result in imprisonment. Similarly, any other violation of the FAA’s guidelines and regulations can attract monetary fines, drone pilot license suspension or revocation, and imprisonment. Furthermore, every mission flown for commercial purposes is required to be approved ahead of time by the Low Altitude Authorization and Notification Capability (LAANC). If at any given time the pilot or anyone on the team spots or anticipates any dangerous conditions or practice not in line with the law, they have the authority to stop the operation. These and other details are discussed with every client during our consultation.

Safety and regulatory compliance are of the utmost importance to our team at Raven Drone Solutions, hence why we ensure all parties involved (from a client, team members to people on site) understand the legal and safety parameters associated with drone operations. This knowledge has a deep impact on the type of services and the ways of how they are allowed to be performed. We have included a link below to the official FAA website, where all the regulations as well as other important information about drone operations can be found. If you still have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
